Public Awareness for farmers associations and NGOs in Southern Africa

Objectives

The general objective is to strengthen the capacities and skills of the leaders of farmers associations and NGO's in policy influence and public speaking. At the end of the workshop participants will understand the value of public awareness for institutional building, develop their skills in policy influence, master the challenges and the rules of communication and oral communication techniques. They will be familiarised with the electronic media (radio and television) and they will develop their communication skills in the formulation of a communication strategy. The workshop aims to:

  • Introduce and discuss the importance of public awareness for institutional image building
  • Assess stakeholders' roles and priorities, and identify key target audiences and their interests
  • Review public awareness techniques, tools and products
  • Discuss and identify appropriate communication approaches, skills and resources required for effective public awareness
  • Develop a tailored institutional public awareness strategy
