Introduction
Inadequate training resources and the lack of information on available electronic networks, resources and contacts are preventing ACP countries from using these networks. Most training programmes are technical or attract only technicians. However, the location of appropriate organisations and resources, and details on how to obtain and exchange relevant information are not technical matters. One of the actions undertaken by CTA within the framework of its training programme in agricultural information and communication management is the development of training courses for information professionals to enable them to up-date their knowledge, handle new information management technologies and work better with networks. |

Based on the recommendations of different meetings and seminars which requested that greater attention be given to the exchange of information at local level with regard to long-term agriculture development in ACP countries, the Centre organised introduction courses in 'Web design and use of electronic networks' and advanced courses in 'Micro CDS-ISIS / Winisis' for research and agricultural training institutions between 1997 and 1999. After these courses, the participants were invited to update their pages or databases. As a follow-up to these courses, CTA is organising a series of advanced courses in 'Web page design and Use of a web interface with databases'. |
