Selective guide to scientific journals in the field of agricultural and rural developmentGuide prepared by CIRAD and CABI for CTAMarch 1999
CTA has published this Selective guide to scientific journals in the field of agricultural and rural development in the context of a study on measures which need to be taken to encourage ACP researchers to publish more of the results of their work. This publication has been prepared for CTA by the Centre de coopération internationale en recherche agronomique pour le développement (CIRAD), France and CAB International (CABI), UK. The guide is intended for researchers in ACP countries working in the field of agriculture and rural development. It is intended first and foremost as a tool to help them identify international and regional scientific journals in the field of agriculture and rural development to which they may submit their papers for publication. For each subject, reputable journals in their respective field, as well as well-known journals which may be more accessible to researchers with less experience in getting their work published, have been selected. The journals included cover, to the extent possible, all the countries in the ACP region, and accept articles in English (55%), French (35%) and Portuguese and Spanish (10%). Accessibility of journals was also a criterion in determining their selection : journals which are infrequently published, or those for which instructions to authors were not clear, have not been included. For each title cited, a data sheet presents - in English and French - a description of the main elements to be taken into account in journal selection, together with the instruction to authors, either in their original form, or summarised in the original language. These summaries are intended only to be indicative - we advise researchers to contact the journal editors to ask for detailed instructions before seeking publication. The journals are presented according to the following main subjects :
A title index is included. CTA's working document series consists of material that, in view of its immediate relevance and practical utility to specific readerships, the Centre wishes to make available without the delays inherent in the formal publication process. These working documents have not yet undergone technical editing by CTA and should be cited accordingly. Comments on matters of substance are welcome, and should be addressed directly to CTA |
