Background:
The Authority for Scientific Publishing and Dissemination (SPDA) was formely founded in 1970 as a Communication Unit, then developed to the Department for Coummication and Scientifc Publishing and lately in 1996 to SPDA due to changes in its mandate and activities. Now the SPDA is entrusted with dissemination of research findings and scientific information nationally, regionally and internationally through different ways and means (such as publications, media programs and so on) in addition to implementation of research projects.
Objectivies :
- To publish Scientific Research Journals, Scientific books, magazines and studies.
- To promote scientific interest and attitudes among children, youth, young researchers and the general public through specialized publication and mass media programmes.
- To promote, disseminate and encourage investment of the applied research.
- To disseminate Information on the National Centre for Research, its objectives, policies and scientific activities.
- To cooperate and coordinate with relevant institutions.

Implementation of relevant research projects and studies e.g. (Scientific Publication in Sudan - Problems and Future Prospects)
Scientific Publications :
- "AlBuhuth" (published in Arabic and English) :
A biannual scientific journal - concerned with publication of scientific papers in the different fields of fundamental and applied sciences.
- "Al ULUM" ("Science" published in Arabic) :
A general scientific magazine, published three times per year. It raises the scientific awareness of youth and general public.
- "Al Bahith Al Sageer" ("Young Researcher" - published in Arabic)
A specialized scientific magazine targeted for children and youth. Published three times per year, and incorporates articles structured in simplified scientific forms.
- Different scientific books and studies.
