The Nigerian Agricultural Question and Answer Service aims at:
1. Improving access to agricultural information in a most cost efficient and timely manner;
2. Promoting the use of information in order to enhance sustainable agriculture and rural development to improve food security in Nigeria;
3. Institutionalizing the service for it to be well known and used by a large proportion of the target group in the next five years;
4. Identifying information need of users pertaining to world market prices, research and development activities in agricultural and rural development;
5. Identifying sources of information, particularly publications relating to research and development activities in Nigeria;
6. Improving networking as well as developing partnership through training;
7. Building the capacity of the designated national information center (NAERLS) to be able to sustain its services in future on cost recovery basis.

The main purpose of the service is to develop national mechanisms to provide stakeholders in agriculture with information services on demand on the following priority themes:
*Production intensification and optimization;
*Strengthening National Agricultural System (NAS);
*Environmental protection and natural resources management;
*Promoting market-led developments

In addition, the service aims at improving networking, developing partnerships, providing advisory services and provision of training.
