The Veterinary Services, whose responsibly is to ensure the
maintenance of a good animal health status in the country. At the same
time the services assist in the maximal production of local animals and
animal products of the livestock sector. Great emphasis is placed on the
prevention of zoonotic diseases that could be transmitted to the human
population. Regular visits are made to farmers and other members of the
public, in response to their requests to carry out medical/surgical treatment,
and preventive advise regarding their animals’ health. The services comprised
in this section are the Field Service, Small Animal Clinical and Quarantine
Service, Fish Inspection and Quality Control Lab, and the Stray Dog Unit.
