Division's Future Perspectives
The DRD strategic vision of the research programme through TARP II is to make research more user-oriented and farmers-driven and embracing the farming systems approach. Further, the programme will have the following main features:
- Research activities will be decentralised , with main responsibilities vested in the zones;
- Private sector involvement will be promoted;
- Sustainable sources of research funding will be sought;
- Integrated information system covering informatics;
- planning, monitoring and evaluation, and library and documentation services, will be strengthened;
- Research-extension-farmer linkages will be strengthened through joint planning, budgeting and implementation of agreed research agenda;
- Collaborative research arrangements within and outside the country will be enhanced.
