Human Resources Development

As in preview years, the Department continues to place high priority on human resource development through long and short term training. Research managers, researchers and technicians are sent on relevant courses to upgrade their technical skills and knowledge in their areas of specialisation.

As a result of the training offered, the Department has been able to localize all technicians, artisans and administarative positions. There has also been significant progress in training of professional staff.

To date, professional staff compliment in the Department consist of 58 officers, 11 with PhD, 22 with MSc and 25 with BSc degrees in agriculture and related fields.

Out of these, 5 officers (4 PhD and 1 MSc) were expartriates. A total of 8 officers were away on long-term training including 2 PhD, 1 MSc, 3BSc and 2 Diploma candidates.
