Dr. L.P. Gakale former Director of Agricultural Research has been appointed Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture with effect from 1st April 1999.

Dr. L.M. Mazhani, Deputy Director, Department of Agricultural Research has been promoted to Director of Agricultural Research with effect from 1st May 1999.
