CTA, Wageningen, The Netherlands
16 - 18 February 2005
Objectives
The aims of this meeting cover the elaboration of current use and potential of RSS, syndication and data exchange for agricultural information aimed at CTA partners.
Specifically, the meeting aims to:
- Raise awareness of the potential of RSS applications;
- Identify current syndication initiatives;
- Identifying priorities for intervention;
- Build and execute an action plan;
- Ensure continued dialogue in the community on RSS, syndication and content exchange.
The arrangement of the meeting is that a series of presentations will be made followed by a working group session to discuss how some of the approaches currently taken can be used and enhanced where appropriate, at the same time identifying which actions are realistic.
These working group sessions should result in a list of possible areas for collaboration with some concrete examples. On the final day these will be worked into a framework document for each of the three areas being discussed:
- How syndication and RSS can assist in publishing information on the web;
- How Libraries and metadata collections may benefit from syndication and what tools may be used;
- How aggregators of content could benefit from syndication and what role if any there is for aggregators of information using RSS.
