Participants to the seminar were selected from
active members of the Fishing Industries and National
Competent Authorities of Papua New Guinea, Solomon
Islands and Vanuatu.
National
and regional training institutions were also represented,
as were members of the donor community.
In
total, 46 participants attended the seminar, inclusive
of organisers (CDE and CTA) and Resource Specialists.
Papua New Guinea was represented by twenty-three
members of the fishing industry and one from National
Seafood Competent Authority. Solomon Islands had
two fishing industry representatives and one from
the National Competent Authority, Vanuatu was
represented by two members of the fishing industry
and one from the inspection authority.
Participation
was expected to be higher from both Solomon Islands
and Vanuatu. However, few fishing industry representatives
from these two countries accepted the seminar
invitation. A shortfall in the numbers of participants
from Solomons and Vanuatu was made up by inviting
