Planning and Corporate Services Department

Monitoring the CTA environment to achieve coherence
in current activities and
to identify and translate emerging issues into future activities

The Planning and Corporate Services Department was set up to improve the quality, efficiency and consistency of CTA's operational programmes.

The Department is responsible for:

  • monitoring CTA's environment in order to identify emerging issues and trends and make proposals for translating them into projects and services;

  • preparing guidelines for planning, managing and monitoring activities, including the development of indicators for programme monitoring;

  • submitting proposals for improved coordination, integration and consistency of CTA's activities;

  • coordinating documentation and support for Advisory Committee meetings;

  • coordinating cooperation with other organisations (including ACP and EU organisations, and CTA's Brussels Office);

  • preparing and supervising systematic programme evaluations and monitoring the implementation of evaluation outcomes;

  • coordinating and managing CTA's ICT databases and the Centre's computing systems, network and databases.

The P&CS Department implements an annual programme and a number of support services. The annual programme is operated in collaboration with specialist institutions involved in research on topics that relate to CTA's cross-cutting issues, as well as monitoring and evaluation of developments in ACP countries and organisations.

The programme has four main components:

  • research on cross-cutting issues;

  • development of impact assessment methods;

  • needs assessment and priority-setting;

  • evaluating CTA's programmes.
