CTA's Departments

In line with the Cotonou Agreement, CTA has two main objectives for the 2001-2005 planning period, as noted in its Strategic Plan:

  1. to improve the availability of and access to relevant, adequate, accurate and timely information on agricultural and rural development in ACP countries;
  2. to improve the information and communication management capacity of ACP agricultural and rural development organisations.

CTA defined three programme areas to achieve these objectives. The following departments implement these programmes.

Information Products and Services Department (IPSD)
Increasing the availability of information and the awareness of information sources

Communication Channels and Services Department (CCSD)
Promoting the integrated use of communication channels and the intensification of information exchange

Information and Communication Management Skills and Systems Department (ISSD)
Increasing the capacity to generate and manage information and to formulate information management strategies

The IPSD and CCSD programmes relate to Objective 1. The ISSD programme relates to Objective 2.

A fourth department - Planning and Corporate Services (P&CS) - monitors the CTA environment to ensure that the Centre's programmes and activities are coherent and to identify and translate new issues into future activities
