CariPestNet is a network supporting the exchange of information on issues concerning plant protection and quarantine in the Caribbean. Membership to CariPestNet is free and open to people who belong to government research and extension services, scientific organisations, academic institutions, universities and schools, non-governmental organizations and the private sector sharing common interests in plant protection. The forum enables members to (i) access regional and global expertise on plant pest, their diagnosis and management, (ii) obtain preliminary diagnosis of plant pests and diseases on the basis of submitted digital images and textual descriptions, (iii) share information and lessons learned and (iv) post announcements which are relevant to plant protection and quarantine in the region. The vision of SACAU is to attain regional co-operation and understanding among farmers' organisations, agricultural leaders, and the farming community in the SADC region. SACAU members currently include 7 national general agriculture unions from 4 SADC countries. Commodity associations and other types of agriculture groupings are being considered for membership. SACAU aims to support capacity building initiatives of member organisations; develop and implement a regional/international market information system; and establish a forum for the discussion of matters of common concern and to promote a common understanding of and approach to such matters. The Secretariat is also active in commissioning studies, disseminating views and information, and promoting the growth and development of Farmer Organisations within SADC. The Agricultural Liaison Officer ( ALO) Network began its operations in 1983 as a two-way linkage between the Institute for Research, Extension and Training in Agriculture ( IRETA) and the USP member countries. The Network has 10 ALO's and remains the corner-stone of IRETA's outreach program in information sharing and dissemination to its stakeholders within and between the ACP member nations. Apart from an annual ALO Meeting in which the following years programmes and agreed upon, the ALOs also contribute to IRETA's South Pacific Agriculture News ( SPAN) that is widely distributed and read throughout the Pacific region. ALOs provide coordination role for most IRETA activities at the national level. In short, ALO Network services as the "eyes" and "ears" of IRETA in promoting information exchange and development at the national level. |

Le CORAF/WECARD a pour mission d’améliorer l’efficience et l’efficacité de la recherche agricole en Afrique de l’Ouest et du Centre en contribuant à la construction et à la consolidation des capacités des Systèmes Nationaux de Recherches Agricoles ( SNRA), à travers la coopération entre ses membres, les partenaires au développement, les organismes régionaux et internationaux, le Secteur Privé, les Organisations Non Gouvernementales, les utilisateurs des résultats de la recherche d’une part, de consolider la place de la sous région Afrique de l’Ouest et du Centre dans le contexte de la recherche et du développement agricole international, d’autre part. Les organes constitutifs du CORAF/WECARD sont: l'Assemblée générale, le Comité exécutif, le Comité Scientifique et Technique et le Secrétariat Exécutif. Ses outils de coopération ou Unités Opérationnelles de recherche sont les réseaux associatifs de recherche (Arachide, Riz, Elevage, Racines et tubercules, Coton, Maïs, Résistance à la sécheresse, Ressources génétiques, Banane et plantain, Forêt, Mil et sorgho, Semences et matériel de plantation), les bases-centres (Centre international de recherche/ développement sur l’élevage en zone subhumide, Centre d’étude régional pour l’amélioration de l’adaptation à la sécheresse, International Trypanotolerant Center) les pôles régionaux de recherche (Systèmes irrigués en zone soudano-sahélienne, Développement des savanes d’Afrique Centrale) et les projets régionaux de recherche (Amélioration et la gestion de la jachère en Afrique de l’Ouest). |
